ESL Certification (K-12)


Curricular Structure

For prospective students holding an Instructional I certificate, or its equivalent, a certificate as an English as a Second Language Teacher (K-12) can be arranged for a student without the student needing to enroll in the MEd degree program. In order to gain this nondegree certificate as an English as a Second Language Specialist, the student must complete a non-credit Orientation Seminar, 9 credits in the professional core and 9 credits of ESL Certification electives. This program requires 60 hours of field work integrated within the courses. The curriculum is designed as follows:
